Answer first
What should a HYROX training week include?
A useful week balances running, strength and station skill, at least one session that teaches you to run after work, and enough easy time to absorb the training. The right mix depends on your base, race date, and the number of days you can repeat without accumulating fatigue.
This generator creates an adjustable template, not a medical or individualized coaching prescription. Reduce volume, change impact, or seek qualified advice when pain, unusual fatigue, or a health concern appears.
The shape of a good week
Easy running
Build the ability to repeat work. Conversational pace is a feature, not a missed opportunity.
Stations
Practice positions, breathing, and standards at a load you can control before adding race fatigue.
Compromised work
Use short run-to-station blocks to rehearse the switch without turning every session into a simulation.
How to progress without stacking stress
- Keep the easy work easy.
It supports the harder sessions and makes the next week possible. - Change one variable.
Add a little time, distance, load, or density, but not all four at once. - Repeat before advancing.
A session that feels controlled twice is more useful than one heroic attempt. - Deload when needed.
Reduce volume when sleep, soreness, motivation, or movement quality shows that recovery is falling behind.
Match the week to the timeline
| Runway | Priority | Do not rush |
|---|---|---|
| 16-24 weeks | Consistency, easy running, movement quality | Race-specific intensity |
| 8-12 weeks | Station skill plus controlled run-to-station work | Full simulations every week |
| 4 weeks | Familiar execution and reducing unnecessary volume | New heavy loads or late fitness tests |
Use the timeline guide to choose a realistic runway. When the week produces useful evidence, record it with Race History and adjust the next block.
Weekly plan FAQ
Is five training days better than three?
No. Five days creates more opportunities, but three well-spaced sessions can be the better plan when recovery, work, or family demands are high.
Should every week include a HYROX simulation?
No. Partial rehearsals and controlled run-to-station work usually give beginners more useful practice with less unnecessary fatigue.
What if I miss a session?
Do not cram it into the next day. Keep the key session, skip the least important one, and return to the normal rhythm.
